Bricks of Egypt

These three difficulty levels come with 8 individual level packs. Having a knack in mathematics is an added advantage when playing Bricks of Egypt as you enjoy the game while enjoying superb bat and ball mathematics. You have to press the left button of your mouse to release the ball. Once it bounces off the wall, you have to hit it back to destroy the walls. Sometimes you may have to hit a wall more than once to see it destroyed.

The aim of the game lies in breaking through the ancient walls of Egypt so that you get to collect gems while gaining special powers. On reaching the Tutankhamen’s tomb, you get to move on to the next level, and more challenges. While making your way through the Bricks of Egypt, you have to catch green coins as a boost but avoid the red ones as they only hinder you.

You find you can play a game of Bricks of Egypt much better if you follow these tips of the game. When serving a new ball, aim so that the ball ends on the center of the paddle. This ensures a straighter shot when you release the ball. This point is important because the first few rebounds of the ball come from low hanging bricks. It is better to make sure these shots directly reach your paddle as you have no time to waste with mistakes.

Sometimes breaking holes in lower bricks is advantageous to you. Try to get the ball through these holes and into the open space beyond it so that it can bounce around and thus do more work for you breaking bricks, without any effort from your side.

Bonus items like gems and ankhs are found trapped above the bricks. Aim to break the bricks below them so that the bonus items fall down to you. catching them on your paddle earns you a bonus; however be careful with this as aiming for too much for a bonus may at times cost you your game.

Follow these tips, and enjoy your game of Bricks of Egypt to its maximum.

Maxit Game

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Puzzle games are often very much fun to play and can help in passing a number of hours in rapt attention while trying to solve whichever puzzle is before us. A puzzle game that is much liked and which most people will enjoy playing is named Maxit that is a game that is quite simple to play and it is played on a board that has eight rows as well as eight columns to make a square matrix of sixty-four fields.

Each of the sixty-four fields excepting one has a number that is placed in it and such numbers are randomly picked from a set of predefined numbers that can range from minus nine up to fifteen. The one position that does not contain a number is reserved for the Maxit cursor which is placed there and it is used to show the number of the board’s row from which the player (you in this instance) needs to choose a single field. This field will have a number whose value is added to the player’s (your) score, and one should also be aware of the fact that there are also fields that hold numbers with negative values. Once you choose a field you will then see that the Maxit cursor is moved to that field and the position where the Maxit cursor was previously positioned will then not have any value.

Once you have made your move, you must then wait for the computer to make its own move which will mean that it (the computer) needs to select a field in the same column where the Maxit cursor was placed by you. Whichever number is selected by the computer will be added to its score and the Maxit cursor will then be moved to the field that the computer selected and now it is your turn to play again. This is how the Maxit game continues and it will end only when the computer is unable to make a move.

The original version of Maxit was actually written in the computer language known as BASIC and the author was a person named Harry J. Saal who wrote it in the year 1981 and it was played on the Commodore PET after which it began to be played on IBM machines and was later written again by a person name Owen G Williams which had a better interface of only eighty columns. It later became known as Blue Angel 69 and this was the first time that Maxit was adapted in graphics and colors were used to denote negative and positive numbers instead of the minus and plus signs. Since then, Blue Angel 69 became Sexy Droids and later Murmel. Finally, it has become Erotica which is how the career of Maxit has developed from its early days.

Checkers

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Board games generally involve people playing the game with counters and maybe even with pieces that have to be placed on as well as removed from and also moved over the board which is a surface with markings relevant to a particular game. The simpler type of board games is very often well suited for entertainment in a family environment and they can be played by people of all ages. Amongst the more popular board games you will find chess, oware, go/weiqi and also xiangqi that are games that require having strategies for winning and which have been played for many centuries as well.

The number of board games are many and so too are their types with some that actually tend to simulate real life situations and among the more popular of such games we can find monopoly, Clue and Risk. Monopoly is a game that is a simulation of real estate business while Clue is a game that is like a murder mystery and Risk deals with the topic of war. A board game with some strategic value is the one known as Checkers that is played by two players and in which moves require moving pieces in a diagonal fashion accompanied by capturing the opponent’s pieces which involves also leapfrogging over the captured piece’s square on the board.

The British version of Checkers that is also known as English Draughts is played on a board having ten rows and ten columns, while the American version uses eight rows and eight columns and besides these two popular versions, there are also a few other variations of the game as well.

Essentially, playing of Checkers involves two players that sit opposite one another and who make moves alternating between one player and the opponent. It is usual for one person to play with dark pieces while the other will play with lighter pieces and it is the person playing with dark pieces that begins the game unless agreed to otherwise. The pieces can be moved in a diagonal direction and when an opponent’s piece is encountered it can be captured and in the process you can jump over the captured piece.

Play is confined to the dark squares on the board and pieces can only be moved to squares that are vacant and capturing the opponent’s pieces is almost mandatory though in some variants of the game it may be optional. When a piece is captured by the opponent, it is removed from the board and a player with no pieces left or who cannot move his available pieces will have lost the game.

When a piece is captured you can jump over the square where the captured piece was laying and this means that often it is possible to capture several pieces of your opponent and thus jump a number of squares in doing so. Another variation to the game of Checkers is that in English Draughts it is not allowed to capture pieces except by a forward movement though in international Checkers it is also possible to capture pieces in a backward movement. And, on reaching the kings row, the piece is crowned as a king which gives the piece more powers.

Bridge Card Game

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

There are some card games that require players taking tricks from other players and a good example of such card games is the one known as Contract Bridge or plain Bridge as it is commonly referred to. This card game that involves taking tricks requires a lot of skill and some amount of luck too and how much of each is dependent on how good or bad the player is. The game is played by four individual players with two players forming a partnership against an opposing pair and two partners sit opposite each other at the table with game beginning with an auction that is also referred to as a bidding followed by the actual playing of the hands and this is followed by scoring the hands.

Once the bidding has ended a contract is formed that essentially means that one of the two partnerships has stated that they will make a specified number of tricks which obviously the other partnership will try to defeat. A suit is chosen as the trump or there may even be bid no trumps and generally all the rules pertaining to Bridge are more or less the same as for any other game that involves taking of tricks though there is one notable difference in that one of the partnerships (the one that has made the bid) having one player as a dummy and whose cards are displayed on the table for everyone to see though this player does not play his or her hand; rather it is played by the player who had started the bid and made the final bid.

Bridge is played with a standard pack of cards that contain fifty-two cards and in every deal, one player is the dealer and who is the first one to bid. Once the cards have been dealt, there follows several rounds of auctioning in which each partnership states how many tricks and which suit shall be trumps though it is also possible to play without any suit being a trump as is the case with no trumps.

An opposing pair cans double the contract which in turn can be redoubled by the bidding pair and which means that scoring is doubled and redoubled should the contract fail or be successful respectively. There are maximum thirteen tricks that can be made and if such is performed by a pair, a grand slam is made which is the maximum for the game of Bridge though it is very rarely achieved. A little slam is making twelve tricks and scoring is based on level of contract rather than actual number of tricks made.

In addition, there is also the concept of vulnerability of the pair bidding which sees greater penalties if the contract is defeated. The game of bridge is won when a pair scores twice at game level either singly or in parts. A game level for no trumps bid is nine tricks, for major suits it is ten tricks and for minor suits it is eleven tricks.

Disney Sports Soccer

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Sports games are usually games played on computers or videos that are simulations of real world games that are traditionally played by almost everyone being very popular both amongst professionals and also everyday people and there are many such sports games that have become best sellers in their own right. Thus, it is possible to find virtually every real sport available in the form of computer or video sports game and some of these games lay emphasis on the actual playing of each sport while others may deal with the strategy involved in playing the game. Some sports games even go so far as to satirize the game to make them quiet comic and has been from very long ago most popular and also very competitive and are good replicas of the actual sports played in real life.

Arcade games are surely very popular and many sports games are made as arcade games because the arcade game lend it well for sports that are very competitive where the focus of the arcade game is to score as high as possible. However, arcade games are far removed from reality and they require having experience with playing quick games and some of the examples that come to mind in this regard include NFL Blitz as also NBA Jam series. And, there are also certain sports that are no more than fiction and not related to any sport that we currently know of. A good example of this is Speedball 2 that has been an amazingly successful sports game.

A sports game worth considering is the one that is known as Disney Sports Soccer that has many of the characters of Disney that are so well loved and it is a game that is a heady mix of simulation style play and also has antics of an arcade style game. In one form, it has a goal of winning the dream cup through eliminating all of the competing teams while another aim of this game is win the challenge cup in which one team competes against every other team until each of them has been vanquished, while you can also opt to play the exhibition mode game in which there is either solo or even multiplayer format. All teams are captained by figures such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and also Minnie Mouse.

With the help of different buttons you can either shoot the ball or pass between players and there is also a turbo button to speed up running with ball and also for adding force to any shots you take. This is what happens when in offensive mode; though in defensive mode you can shoulder charge, slide tackle which makes the game even more interesting. Once you get the hang of the mechanics you will enjoy the Disney Sports Soccer game immensely.

Pachisi and Ludo

Monday, August 6th, 2007

There are two main types of board games and these are games that are based on strategy and those which are related to racing. As far as the racing type of board games are concerned they come in different guises including moral, educational and also fun as well as competitive and it requires two plus numbers of players that must play against one another with a view to winning the game. There are different types of race games with some being quite simple while others are very complex and a simple board game such as Snakes and Ladders would require just one playing piece to be moved by a set track that is moved from start until the finish.

A good example of a racing board game is the one named Pachisi and Ludo that requires as much luck as it does skill and this board game has been played for, it is believed, as many as twelve hundred years and more in India. Pachisi is a name that is derived from a word in the Indian language that stands for the numeral twenty-five that is, in this game, the maximum number that will be able to be thrown using cowry-shells that are used for playing the game. Even today, this game is being played in many Indian homes and also cafes and most often it requires boards that are made out of cloth that is decorated and which is foldable so that it can be borne with the players wherever they wish to take it.

The panel of cloth is shaped as a cross and consists of patchwork with different colors as well as cotton prints though the more costly sets will have markers made from rock crystals and often the markers are also made out of wood. To play the game of Pachisi use is made of a couple of dice of oblong shape though it is also possible to use cowry shells that total five in number and how many moves are allowed is determined by how many shells show their highest openings. The goal for each player is to move each of his four markers from the beginning to the end while traversing the entire board in the process. In addition, the opposing players are allowed to capture and thus put the captured marker at the start once more, though there are twelve places on the board that are safe from capture.

Ludo is also quite similar to Pachisi although in this game there is an absence of any safe places for the markers and is thus a lot simpler to play and there is only a single die used in place of the cowry shells. Designs for the Ludo board are varied and it is usual to have crosses that are either set against shapes of diamond or even those that are shaped like squares, though the latter form is most commonly used.
