Soko-Ban

Usually, one will find a number of different puzzle games that attracts a whole lot of different players and which has different rules and features. Among the many different puzzle games you can find is the one known as Soko-Ban which is sure to be an interesting game that was first developed around the year 1980 by a person named Hiroyuki Imabayashi that was also a prize winning entry in a contest. Buoyed by the success of his puzzle game Soko-Ban, Imabayashi then made this game available commercially a couple of years later.

In the year 1984, a person called Spectrum Holobyte then offered a new version for DOS platforms, which even though it did suffer from a rather ill looking CGA palette, did well enough and in fact Holobyte would later become famous for another game named Tetris. In any case, Soko-Ban that in Japanese really means a worker in a warehouse revolves around the pushing of crates which need to be moved to a specific target place and the only trick involved in this exciting puzzle game is that you are allowed to push the carts but cannot pull them. The popularity of this game can be gauged by looking to the fact that this game has found many duplicators and it has been copied quite a lot.

The game itself is exciting and evens a step that is more than allowed can require restarting the game all over again. Any way, there are different versions of the game to suit different platforms and there is a Soko-Ban for Macintosh platform and even a freeware known as Sloppy Soko-Ban that can conveniently be run on a PowerMac less than 8.1 or X. For the DOS platform, there are Sokoban 1994, Peter Box, Crates, and Cargo Bay, while for Windows you have WinWahn, Sokoban for Windows, Winsoko, and KSokoban, Palm as well as the freeware called GameBoy.

Well, to get down to basics, Sokoban is a game in which logic is to be used and it consists of many puzzles though you should not be under the false impression that it is a video game and you don’t need any fast reflexes to play the game and there are also no aliens waiting to be blasted either. The player needs to push different objects such as balls, money bags or even crates (which depend on the version you are using) to the proper destination in a warehouse that is otherwise quite crowded.

It is normal to try out Sokoban in different levels of difficulty ranging from the extremely simple to the extraordinarily difficult that can consume many hours of your time solving the puzzle. And, even though many people consider puzzles to be really impossible to achieve, you can rest assured that most of them, if not all, and including Sokoban are very solvable, and certainly worth a try.
